Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Apache Tomcat

Overview

Multiple vulnerability has been reported in Apache Tomcat which could be exploited by an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute arbitrary code, disclose sensitive information and cause data corruption under specific conditions on the target system.

Target Audience:
All end-user organisations and individuals responsible for maintaining and updating Apache Tomcat.

Impact Assessment:
Potential for remote code execution and unauthorized file access.

Description

Apache Tomcat is an open-source web server and servlet container that runs Java-based web applications.

This vulnerability exists in the Apache Tomcat due to improper handling of partial HTTP PUT requests. An attacker could exploit this issue by crafting malicious partial PUT requests to overwrite files.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code, disclose sensitive information and cause data corruption under specific conditions on the target system.
