Denial of Service vulnerability in ISC DHCP server

Overview

Two vulnerabilities discovered in ISC DHCP may allow remote attackers launch denial of service attack

Description

Two vulnerabilities have been found in ISC DHCP server. The vulnerabilities are described in US-CERT vulnerability notes

VU#317350 CAN-2004-0460

A boundary check error exists in the logging functionality of ISC DHCP. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by sending a DHCP request with several long hostname options.



VU#654390 CAN-2004-0461

The vsprintf function in ISC DHCP may allow an attacker to launch buffer overflow.
