Cisco Call Manager Memory Handling Vulnerabilities

Overview

Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Cisco Call Manager platform. Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities may allow a remote attacker to execute an arbitrary code on affected system.

Description

Cisco Call Manager is a critical component of Cisco VoIP infrastructure. It is essential for call processing and performs tasks such as call routing and call signaling. The Cisco call manager service aupair.exe listening at predictable TCP port is vulnerable to both Denial of Service vulnerability and Heap overflow vulnerability. Both of these vulnerabilities arise during session negotiation and pre-authentication stage and successful exploitation does not require any user interaction.

A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending a specially crafted malicious packet to affected system causing heap overflow in a critical call manager process, resulting Denial of Service condition and enabling attacker to take complete control of affected system.

Update software as suggested by CISCO
