Overview
An information disclosure vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Outlook which could allow an attacker to access to potentially sensitive information which may aid in further attacks.
Description
The vulnerability exists in Microsoft Outlook due to improper handling of the expanded S/MIME (Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) certificate metadata. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a malicious email message to a user and enticing the user to open it.
Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to access sensitive information such as the system IP address and open network ports of the target system and connected systems.
Workaround
- Disable the Reading Pane in Outlook.
