Overview
A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in the WinVerifyTrust function in Microsoft windows which could be exploited by a remote attacker to gain complete control of the targeted system in context of the logged in user.
Description
This vulnerability exists in the WinVerifyTrust function in Microsoft Windows due to improper validation of windows authentication signatures for Portable Executable (PE) file digests. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by injecting malicious code into an existing PE file without invalidating the authenticode signature.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow the remote attacker to bypass security validation and execute arbitrary code and take control of the affected system.
