Overview
Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Microsoft Internet Explorer that could allow a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions and execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.
Description
1. Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
(
CVE-2018-8619
)
A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Microsoft Internet Explorer when the Internet Explorer VBScript execution policy does not properly restrict VBScript under specific conditions. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by enticing the user to view a specially crafted website or convincing the user to open a malicious attachment sent via an email or instant message. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow the attacker to run arbitrary code with medium-integrity level privileges on the targeted system.
2. Memory Corruption Vulnerability
(
CVE-2018-8631
CVE-2018-8643
CVE-2018-8625
CVE-2018-8570
)
Multiple remote code execution vulnerabilities exist in Microsoft Internet Explorer due to improper handling of objects in memory by the affected software. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by enticing the user to view a specially crafted website or convincing the user to open a malicious attachment sent via an email or instant message. Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code and could gain the same user rights as the current user. If the current user is logged on with administrative user rights, the attacker could take control of an affected system.
