Overview

A vulnerability has been reported in Tinxy, which could allow an attacker to gain unauthorized access to sensitive information stored on the targeted device.

Target Audience:
End-users of Tinxy app.

Risk Assessment:
Medium risk of unauthorized access to user information

Impact Assessment:
Potential for information disclosure

Description

The Tinxy mobile application enables users to control Tinxy IoT devices directly from their smartphones.

This vulnerability exists in the Tinxy mobile app due to storage of logged-in user information in plaintext on the device database. An attacker with physical access to the rooted device could exploit this vulnerability by accessing its database leading to unauthorized access of user information such as username, email address and mobile number.

Note: To exploit this vulnerability, the device must be rooted/jailbroken.

This vulnerability is reported by Shravan Singh from Mumbai, India in Android app and Harshil Soni (Bitbreacher) in iOS app.
