Multiple vulnerabilities in OpenSSH

  • OpenSSH versions 6.8p1 to 9.9p1 (inclusive)

Overview

Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in OpenSSH which may allow a remote attacker to potentially perform Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attack and denial of service (DoS) attacks on the targeted system.

Target Audience:
All organizations and individuals using OpenSSH.

Impact Assessment:
Risk of unauthorized access, data theft, service disruption and system crashes.

Description

These vulnerabilities exist due to a logic error that allows Man-in-the-Middle attack to impersonate any server when the VerifyHostKeyDNS option is enabled and due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input related to SSH2_MSG_PING packets handling in sshd(8).

Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities may allow a remote attacker to perform Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attack and denial of service (DoS) attacks on the targeted system.
