Session Management Vulnerability in Apache Roller

  • Apache Roller versions prior to  6.1.5

Overview

A vulnerability has been reported in Apache Roller, which could allow an attacker to gain elevated privileges on the targeted system.

Target Audience:
All end-user organisations and enterprises using Apache Roller.

Risk Assessment:
Critical risk for unauthorized access, data theft or gain control of affected system.

Impact Assessment:
Potential for unauthorized access or session hijacking.

Description

Apache Roller is a full-featured, open-source blog server that supports multi-user and group blogging with a customizable, web-based interface.

This vulnerability exists in Apache Roller due to insufficient session expiration after a password change, allowing attackers to hijack user sessions and gain unauthorized access without valid credentials.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker to gain elevated privileges on the targeted system.
