Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in PyTorch

  • PyTorch versions prior to 2.6.0

Overview

A vulnerability has been reported in PyTorch which could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.

Target Audience:
All end-user organizations and individuals using PyTorch.

Impact Assessment:
Potential for execution of arbitrary code, unauthorized access to sensitive system resources.

Description

PyTorch is a Python package that provides tensor computation with GPU acceleration and deep neural networks built on a tape-based autograd system.

This vulnerability exists in PyTorch due to errors in the model loading mechanism.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.

Solution

Apply appropriate updates as mentioned by the vendor.
