Authentication Bypass Vulnerability in cPanel & WHM (WP2)

Overview

A vulnerability has been reported in cPanel & WHM which could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to bypass authentication mechanisms and gain administrative access to affected systems.

Target Audience:
 Organizations and individuals using the affected cPanel & WHM-based hosting environments.

Risk Assessment:
 High risk of unauthorized access and system compromise.

Impact Assessment:
 Potential for unauthorized access, sensitive data exposure and system compromise.

Description

cPanel & WHM is a widely used web hosting control panel that provides administrative (WHM) and user-level (cPanel) interfaces for managing servers and websites.

This vulnerability exists in cPanel and WHM due to improper handling of authentication controls within the application. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by bypassing authentication controls, allowing unauthorized access to the control panel.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker to gain unauthorized administrative access to the affected system.

Note: This vulnerability (CVE-2026-41940) is being actively exploited in the wild. Users are strongly advised to apply the latest patches immediately.
