Arbitrary Code Execution in Forminator Forms plugin of WordPress

  • Forminator Forms plugin versions prior to 1.56.2

Overview

A vulnerability has been reported in Forminator Forms plugin of WordPress, which could allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to upload arbitrary files through a publicly accessible submission handler on the targeted system.

Target Audience:
All end-user organizations and individuals using Forminator Forms plugin of WordPress.

Risk Assessment:
High risk of complete website compromise.

Impact Assessment:
Potential for remote code execution.

Description

WordPress is an open-source content management system (CMS) used to create, manage, and publish websites and web applications.

A vulnerability has been reported in Forminator Forms plugin of WordPress due to insufficient file type validation in handle_file_upload function.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.
