Overview

A vulnerability has been reported in WordPress which could allow an attacker disclose sensitive information or execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.

Target Audience:
Users of affected WordPress versions.

Risk Assessment:
Risk of remote code execution (RCE), local file inclusion, and unauthorized access to sensitive information.

Impact Assessment:
Potential for arbitrary code execution, information disclosure, and full system compromise.

Description

WordPress is an open-source content management system (CMS) that allows you to build and manage websites.

This vulnerability exists in WordPress due to improper page-template resolution and insufficient path validation. An unauthenticated remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted request to include a chosen readable local PHP file outside the active theme directories.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker to disclose sensitive information or execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.
