Overview

A vulnerability has been reported in ASP.NET Core that could allow an authorized attacker to elevate privileges on the targeted system.

Target Audience:
Developers and system administrators using affected .NET and ASP.NET Core products.

Risk Assessment:
High risk of privilege escalation.

Impact Assessment:
Potential for elevation of privileges and complete compromise of the affected system.

Description

ASP.NET Core is a framework for building modern, cloud-enabled, Internet-connected applications.

The vulnerability exist in ASP.NET Core due to incorrect default permissions. A local attacker could exploit the vulnerability by accessing the system with existing low-privileged credentials.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability could allow an attacker to elevate privileges on the targeted system.
